One of the most successful countries involved in the Global Premiere on September 22nd, with packed out cinemas and loads more being booked through Indiescreenings.net
Age of Stupid activities here in Turkey. We held a very successful press and VIP launch on Monday night
(delayed due to Ramadan), attended by over 250 celebrities, major
donors, stakeholders, suppliers and staff.
The event took place at a local arthouse cinema in Istanbul owned by
the well known and well loved TV talk show host Yilmaz Erdogan, which
drew alot of media attention in itself. We had a 'green carpet' at the entrance
to the venue and vegetarian catering throughout the night. Our
celebrity host and GP Med's ED Uygar Ozeyemi both made welcome
speeches after which we showed our 'Inspiring Action' recruitment
video before screening AoS itself.
We captured video vox pops from cinema goers at the premiere which we
are sending on to the AoS team in London to include in their promos.
There has been considerable web and press coverage already with the
main Turkish broadsheet, the Hurriyet, featuring a full interview with
Franny Armstrong this weekend. There is some TV interest as well.
Our AoS webpage, featuring a live count down to COP15, is now live and
active at: http://www.greenpeace.org/turkey/kopenhag/age-of-stupid
Commercial screenings will start on the 16th October in Istanbul; we
have secured additional interest from cinemas in Ankara and possibly
also the city of Izmir.
Our DD teams will be operating with a stong COP15 message near the
cinemas during screenings. In addition our inhouse online supporter
list (100,000+) has been contacted about the movie, and are about to
be contacted again re Indie Screenings.
On September 21st / 22nd, on the eve of the UN General Assembly's climate session, The Age of Stupid was launched internationally at the biggest and greenest live film event the world has ever seen. A-list celebrities walked the green carpet to an eco cinema tent in downtown New York, linked by satellite to 700 cinemas in 50+ countries. Take a look at the photos below from the events around the world and see the Global Premiere page for the full report.
