Mer de Glace refuge

The mountain refuge in the foreground is run by Fernand's son, Gilbert. It's usually very popular all year round but is now shut for much of the year due to access getting more difficult as the glacier retreats and melts further. The filmmakers stayed overnight in this refuge when they were filming the glacier scenes and ended up sharing a huge bunk bed with Fernand, and the Guy family.
