Naughty trailer

Date 6th Feb 2009

Yes, we've found out that we'll definitely have to re-do the censored version of the trailer, on account of it having, "a single use of insufficiently bleeped / obscured strong language. In order to secure a 12A classification the language will need to be unidentifiable (both aurally and visually)." Namely - Piers says "f*ck" in the trailer, which is obvious to anyone who can lip-read (Who knew that lip-readers were so damned sensitive? The awkward f*ckers.)

The really surreal thing here is that the forthcoming end of the world is considered unproblematic for under-15s: the major concern is clearly that they must be protected from strong language. Most worrying for us is the prospect of the film itself getting a 15 certificate - there's already a massive campaign underway to get it seen in as many schools as possible.

But apparently,

"None of the language you've noted in relation to the feature itself (piss, bollocks, shit) would require obscuring at 12A."

Phew.

"As for the image of a dead baby, there's really no telling for sure without seeing it in context. But in itself, such an image would not be out of the question at 12A."

Que?

What a BLEEPing peculiar world we do live in, where visions of death and apocalypse are considered less unsuitable for kids than the odd cuss-word...
