Biography:

SHORT BIOG
Grew up in London suburbs (Putney and - mostly - South Harrow). Both swot and trouble-maker at school (often same thing).
Became a pacifist at school, on a day when someone was hanged "to show that killing people was wrong". But at the time I didn't know there was a name for that viewpoint.
Spent a summer looking for the Surrey Puma. Student at Sussex University (maths and physics) - mix of discovery,
excitement, intellectual ferment, frustration, experimentation, fame. Discovered I was a militant pacifist, born-again atheist, more-or-less
anarchist. Computer programmer; physics teacher (and corrupter of youth). Settled in central London. Peace movement journalist, campaigner, organiser, speaker.
Also (besides in connection with militarism) active over: public transport, nuclear power, censorship, sexual freedom, local democracy, housing,
over-consumption, etc etc. 100% acquittal record - must be doing something wrong. Have taken on significant roles in various organisations, including Peace
Pledge Union, War Resisters' International, Campaign Against Arms Trade, Peace News, Housmans Bookshop. Reject nationalism without exception. Addicted to Shostakovich.
