Crude - Franny Armstrong's new documentary
Superstar social and political documentary-maker Franny Armstrong has made a new documentary called Crude, kind of about how our oil supplies are running out, we're destroying the world, millions of people are suffering and...it's sort of your fault. Well, mine too. And Franny's. But at least she's trying to do something about it.
Did you click on the link to the Crude website just then? Look again - it's a revolution! Like this bit - you can help get the film out there by giving some money...which if you care about important independent message getting out there, and support new methods of docs distribution, you just have to do. Or this bit which is a totally-transparent guide to what goes into making a doc like this (i.e.a lot). You think documentaries are made by fakers? Read that and see that you're wrong (well, in this case anyway).
I think it's a really really exciting way to build up a head of steam about your documentary and it also shows that if you doing it all yourself, it's a big job, but it can also be a fun one and you can be sure that what people see is 100% what you want them to see.
Anyway, the Crude place also has loads of superb behind-the-scenes video clips to watch. Here's two, where the crew are told how not to be kidnapped in Nigeria and Franny then puts the advice into action...
