INTERNSHIP Offered – Media Assistant needed for The Age of Stupid office - London

Spanner Films, currently working hard to bring The Age of Stupid to cinemas worldwide, need a media assistant intern.


When:

approx. 3 months, starting as soon as you can until the end of September.
2/3 days a week (to be agreed)


Where:

Spanner Films HQ in Camden, London


Us:

Not content with making a climate change blockbuster labeled "the
most important film of the year" by, of all people, The News of the
World, we then launched it with the largest ever simultaneous film
premiere, broadcasting events at our solar powered eco-cinema in
Leicester Square to over 60 cinemas around the UK simultaneously. Next
we set about revolutionising independent film distribution with our all
new Indie Screenings software which enables anyone to set up a
screening be they a school pupil or a politician. And now we're going
global. We have massive plans to bring The Age of Stupid to Australia,
the US and the rest of the world. We’re very busy, and so will you be
if you join us.


The Job:
You'll be assisting the DVD producer who is also responsible for all
international deliverables for our Global Premiere. An interest in
post-production processes would be a distinct advantage, as would an
interest in film distribution and promotion. We definitely do not have
time to be making documentaries right now, so don’t apply if you’re
hoping to be shooting our next film. You’ll be doing essential work in
a small but very inspiring office with a great bunch of very focused
people.


You’ll need:
Experience of all tape formats
Knowledge of file formats used in the media industry
A pragmatic approach to backups and working with a library
Your time with us will be much easier if you have your own Mac laptop
Power book G4 or better - running 10.5


You’ll be familiar with:
Mac OSX 10.4 and above
Vimeo
YouTube
Flickr
Cyberduck & other file transfer systems
A basic knowledge of all industry cables & connections


It would be helpful for you to have experience of:
Final Cut Pro
Compressor
DVD Studio Pro
Photoshop
Illustrator
Excel
Basic video camera operation and shoot etiquette.


The Money:

None. We will of course be reimbursing you for travel and
food, up to 10 UKP a day. (But remember that many of our team started
by volunteering, including producer Lizzie Gillett.)


The Hours:

On a normal day, 10 till 6. But be prepared to work longer
hours when things are busy (they often are).
