Stupid makes Friends with Europe

Lizzie and Brussels audience

Team Stupid continue to model best sustainability practice and 21st century information technology wherever we go - or don't go. In this case, where we didn't go was to a conference in Brussels that was put on by the Friends of Europe for their Green Week. The audience of academics and policy makers at the European Commission were suitably impressed by (Stupid's Producer) Lizzie's non-corporeal presence on the stage, made possible through the low-carbon techno-magic we love so much.

Here's how it's done:

 Step 1

Step 1

Cycle down to random innoucuous looking building in Westminster.

EC signage

(This is frankly suspect for a piece of European Commission signage, which is usually either in inscrutable iconography or 52 different languages. But it did turn out to be a genuine EC building.)

Step 2

Step 2

Take seat in the teleportation suite.

Step 3

Step 3

Beam in to 300 strong Brussels audience, in the style of Ming the Merciless addressing his subjects.

Step 4

Step 4

Shout at image of yourself on distant television.

TV far away

The television is placed a long way away to remind you that your audience is also a long way away.

Step 5

Step 5

Answer questions from remote audience about the film and the issues it touches on.

Since this hugely impressive virtual Q&A, quite a few people from the audience have now contacted Team Stupid wanting to help with the Global Premiere, which is cool - and we didn't even need to leave the comfort of our Westminster teleportation suite. Climate win!
